La Esperanza will be hosting a community forum on Thursday, August 20th at 6:00 pm at Marshall Presbyterian.
The forum will provide information on current immigration laws in North Carolina and their impact on our local community. Immigration attorney Jacob Oakes of Pisgal Legal Services will provide an overview of current immigration laws, and answer questions. Mary Kaczmarek, a pro bono volunteer attorney with the Charlotte Center for Legal Advocacy and a Certified Immigration Court observer with the American Bar Association's Immigration Justice Project will share her firsthand experiences observing immigration court proceedings.
