Imposition of the Ashes at MHU Broyhill Chapel March 1

We invite you to attend an ecumenical Ash Wednesday service at noon at Mars Hill University’s Broyhill Chapel (on Hwy 213 that runs through the MHU campus).   Rev. Melissa and pastors from several area communities of faith will lead the service.

Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of forty days of introspection; pondering our mortality and our need of a savior (the ashes are a symbol of our mortality).   The forty days are a time of penitence, prayer, and fasting, and they can also be a time of taking up a discipline that honors the Creation and our Savior.  The forty-day time period runs  through Holy Saturday, the day before Easter, the day we give thanks that we do indeed have a savior in Jesus Christ.  We invite you to join with other Christians on this journey to Easter that begins Wednesday, March 1.

Blessing of the Animals October 9

All are welcome to gather for the annual Blessing of the Animals service which will be held 9 a.m. Sunday, October 9 in the "barking lot."

The service will be followed by a light "yappy hour" between 10-10:30.

The service will be held "rain of shine" unless actively storming.

A goat may also make an appearance; now you wouldn't want to be bested by a goat, would you?

All creatures great and small  . . .
