CALL TO CONFESSION
UNISON PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Lord, we are precious in your sight, yet we often forget that we are your beloved. We confess that our love is fickle and inconstant. We follow selfish goals and deny that our way of life harms others and hurts your world. We are sorry and we want to change…silent prayers of confession… Forgive us and create in us a clean heart, strengthen our resolve, reconcile us one to another, and bless us with your peace, Amen.

* ASSURANCE OF PARDON
One: Friends, God also calls us beloved, and God forgives
Our sins. Know that you are pardoned, and be at peace
to love the Lord and serve the world.
All: Thanks be to God; Amen!

* GLORIA PATRI

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. Amen.

MESSAGE Rev. Melissa Upchurch

* AFFIRMATION OF FAITH (Nicene Creed – Ecumenical)
We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father; through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven, was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary and became truly human. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated on the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father (and the Son), who with the Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.

THE EUCHARIST

INVITATION TO THE LORD’S TABLE

GREAT THANKSGIVING

One: May the God of glory be with you!
All: And also with you!
One: People of God, offer your hearts to God.
All: We give them to the One who comes to redeem us.
One: Sing songs of praise and joy, Children of God.
All: We lift our voices to the One who journeys with us through the waters of baptism,
and who feeds us at the Table of hope.

The minister continues: With the water of baptism …
we lift our voices in joy and hope:

Holy, holy, holy, awesome Voice of life and hope.
All creation resounds with your wondrous love.
Hosanna in the highest!
Blessed is the One who comes to be baptized with water
and the Spirit.
Hosanna in the highest!

The minister continues: Holy are you, God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ…we proclaim that mystery we call faith:

Baptized, Christ was called Beloved by you.
Dying, Christ was your heart broken for us.
Risen to new life, Christ is the Voice that shatters all our fears.
Coming to gather us up, Christ will bring us home to you.

The minister continues: Holy Spirit, fill us with the bread of forgiveness…As our Savior Christ has taught us, we are bold to pray:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name,
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the Kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

BREAKING THE BREAD

COMMUNION OF THE PEOPLE

PRAYER OF SENDING
One: Baptized, we will go to share God's love with others.
All: We will welcome those the world rejects as
our sisters and brothers.
One: Baptized, we will become the grace of our Lord Jesus.
All: We will share the waters of life with everyone we meet. One Baptized, we will become the fellowship of the Holy Spirit.
All: We will be a community of justice, not judgment; we will be a household of hope, not an exclusive club, and we will be a community of praise. Amen.

* HYMN Purple Hymnal #697 Take My Life (vv. 1,2,3,5)
