Folks in the Marshall community are gathering for a special interfaith, ecumenical meditation on loving-kindness, joining people around the world in the “Walk for Peace.”
Buddhist monks, accompanied by their rescue dog Aloka, have walked more than 2,300 miles on foot from Texas to Washington, D.C., sharing a message of compassion, unity, and peace. Their journey concludes with a global meditation gathering that will be livestreamed, and our sanctuary will be open for anyone who wishes to participate in community.
All are welcome. Come for all or part of the time. No experience or preparation is needed—just an open heart and a willingness to sit together in peace.

We are grateful to the scores of people, near and far, who contributed their time and talents towards the rebuilding of our church home, allowing us to celebrate Christmas Eve in our sanctuary. Thank you as well to Perry Alexander for skillfully capturing the magic of this holy night.

We’re writing to share some wonderful news: starting Sunday, December 14, we will be holding our worship services in the sanctuary of our own church building at 165 S. Main Street! We are overjoyed. You may enter either through the front door, or the ramp from the parking lot.
It’s important to state that the rebuilding is far from complete. The sanctuary, which was always our first priority, will be largely finished. The mini-splits have been installed, the flooring and the wainscoting is beautiful, and the finishing touches will be done this week. There is a new hearing loop system installed, which will provide access to users of hearing aids. The pews are scheduled to arrive Tuesday morning, and the piano on Thursday. While our new chairs won’t be available until December 16, we have been gifted chairs that will arrive this week. In other words, you won’t need to bring a folding chair to church!
But…the kitchen and the bathrooms will not be complete until closer to the end of the year. (One bathroom is accessible at this time.) And the fellowship hall will not be finished until sometime in the new year.
We hope to hold a larger celebration of our return in 2026, but please plan to join us as we celebrate the final Sundays of Advent--and Christmas Eve!--in our church sanctuary. As always, if you have any questions please let us know.
