Temples of the Holy Spirit

Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.   – 1 Corinthians 6:19-20   

And here are two opportunities to take care of that body: 

Donna Frelick: is starting a Qigong in a Chair class at the Marshall Branch of the Madison Public Library this Friday, Feb. 7, 11:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Classes will be every Friday through February, at least, and maybe longer if they go well.  The class is for all adult ages and abilities and would be especially useful for those with balance problems or who can't stand for long periods. Qigong (chee gung) is easy on the joints and easy to learn, but has great benefits for building energy and strength, even when done in a chair. 

Kim Johnson is teaching a Yoga called “Get up and Going” class which some Presbyterian folk are already enjoying.  This class is also for all levels.  Tuesday mornings at 8:45 in the Old High School on the island.  We even sing a Quaker hymn at the end of the class.

ROAR lunch and SOUPer Bowl Sunday

Not only is this Sunday Super Bowl Sunday, it’s also the monthly ROAR lunch, and it’s SOUPer Bowl of Caring Sunday!

Please bring a monetary or non-perishable goods donation for the Neighbors in Need Food Pantry and Crisis Organization.  They’re at the height of their busy time of year and every gift is most appreciated!

Have your face to the Place Sunday noonish and enjoy a great meal and good company!

ROAR, Rural Organizing and Resilience, is joining with Marshall Presbyterian Church to offer lunch to the Madison County community.  All are welcome.  

This is not a fund raiser, there is no charge.  

The goal is to have Madison County community folks meet, break bread, and chat with other Madison County community folks.

ROAR, Rural Organizing and Resilience formed in Madison County, NC in the Spring of 2017 in response to the need for a rural voice working for all who call these mountains home.  ROAR works to strengthen connections and respect among all people in our mountain communities by countering systems of oppression through education, outreach, empowerment and mutual aid.

Marshall Presbyterian Church Sunday, October 6, that’s what!

9:30 a.m.: Blessing of the Animals: Bring your pet to be blessed by Pastor Melissa in honor of the birthday of St. Francis of Assisi! Rats, bats, bears, boars, cats, dogs, bugs—you bring it (or a photo of it) and Pastor Melissa will bless it! It’s a simple and meaningful service that you will enjoy.

11 a.m.: World Communion Sunday: Come share in worship with Christians from around the world and hear jazz artist Steve Davidowski play his never-before-heard interpretation of “For the Beauty of the Earth”.

High Noon (or there about)—ROAR Lunch: enjoy lunch with friends and neighbors, prepared by members of Rural Organizing and Resiliance (ROAR). Meet new friends at this popular event where there is always good eatin’! You can bring something to share or enjoy what others have brought.

Marshall Presbyterian Church is at 165 Main, directly across from Town Hall.
